Choosing Peace in Uncertain Seasons: How to Stay Grounded in the Middle of Life’s Unknowns
“Que será, será… whatever will be, will be.”
That phrase carries such a peaceful surrender, doesn’t it?
It’s not giving up — it’s letting go.
Letting go of control.
Letting go of overthinking.
Letting go of the pressure to shape every outcome.
It’s an invitation to trust life’s unfolding — to rest in the unknown with quiet courage.
Easier said than done, I say. Especially because this morning I felt that my anxiety was going to get the better of me!
This past week, life came at me from all angles — emotionally, professionally, spiritually.
A major career decision (DRP) left me feeling frozen.
A new connection suddenly went quiet.
My finances reminded me how real the pressure is.
And my trauma responses flared louder than I’d like to admit.
I found myself overthinking, over-explaining, overextending — just wanting to feel okay again. Just wanting something to feel certain.
But somewhere in the chaos, I paused.
Not because I had all the answers.
Not because I felt strong.
But because I needed to breathe.
And in that stillness, I remembered something simple but powerful:
You don’t have to chase clarity. You can choose peace.
There are moments in life when it feels like everything hits at once.
Your job is uncertain. Your finances are shifting. A life-changing decision sits on your desk with a deadline. And the person you were emotionally connecting with… suddenly goes quiet.
Sound familiar?
If so, you’re not alone.
I recently found myself in that very space. The federal government has offered a DRP (Deferred Resignation Program), and I’ve been weighing whether to stay or go. On paper, it looks like an opportunity. In reality, it triggered a storm of emotions, financial anxiety, and deep soul-searching.
And just as I was trying to keep my footing, something else tipped the scale:
The man I had been talking to — sharing voice notes with, laughing with, slowly growing more emotionally vulnerable with — went silent. No replies. No “good morning” like before. Just… quiet.
My nervous system went into overdrive.
As a trauma survivor, my default response is to overthink, over-share, over-check, and try to “fix” whatever went wrong — even when nothing actually did. It’s a trauma response born from years of survival, not dysfunction.
And here’s the truth: I felt like I had messed everything up.
With the job.
With the guy.
With life.
But I realized something important:
Sometimes when you’re standing in the middle of chaos, the best thing you can do is pause.
Not push.
Not reach.
Not chase.
Just pause.
I chose to take a breath instead of sending another message.
I chose to reflect rather than react.
I chose to sit with my feelings and ask:
“What do I need right now — to feel safe, whole, and grounded?”
For the trauma survivor who feels like “too much”…
You’re not.
You’re simply used to managing more than most people can see.
For the person juggling career uncertainty and emotional overwhelm…
You’re not alone.
And you don’t have to solve everything today to be worthy of rest.
For the one waiting for a reply that hasn’t come…
You are not defined by silence.
You are defined by the love and grace you offer yourself in the meantime.
Take Care of You!
I went to the gym.
I had a check-in with my wellness coach.
I slowed down, sipped water, and reminded myself that my healing is mine — and so is my power.
This journey isn’t about perfection, fixing things, staying in control, or being a “worry wort.” It’s about presence.
And sometimes, choosing peace means saying:
“I trust the unfolding, even if I don’t understand it yet.”
Remember the saying, “Que será, será… whatever will be, will be.”
If you ever feel the tension rising, maybe whisper that to yourself like a grounding prayer: “Whatever will be, will be… and I’ll be okay either way.”
It’s a reminder that:
- Not every situation needs a solution today.
- Not every silence needs filling.
- Not every unknown means something’s wrong.
Sometimes the most powerful move is to stop chasing certainty and start nurturing your peace. Because peace is what brings the clarity — not the other way around.
Does that resonate with where you are right now?
If you’re reading this and feel like you’re carrying too much —
If you’ve been overwhelmed by uncertainty, overthinking a relationship, or facing big transitions at work or in life, this is for you:
You don’t need to figure it all out tonight.
You don’t need to be perfect, composed, or strong all the time.
You are allowed to be soft and unsure.
Let yourself step back — not as avoidance, but as alignment.
Regroup, re-center, and then move forward with peace. Clarity does not come from anxiety — it comes from stillness.
The more we create peace, the clearer things become.
Say a prayer…
